e-VPN now fully supports both IPv4 & IPv6, a complete dual stack VPN service. If your device supports both IPv4 & IPv6, your VPN connection will default to IPv6, however, you will then be able to access both IPv4 & IPv6 websites or services on our VPN network.
Internet service providers are running short on IPv4 addresses. The shortage of IPv4 caused them to start implementing a service called IPv6 Dual-Stack Lite, which NAT’s IPv4 to IPv6. This will allow them to slowly transition customers into the IPv6 world. The below diagram illustrates this:
A major problem with the DSL-Lite NAT implementation is the NAT server, it can become very congested, which will result in high latency and slow speeds. You can avoid this by connecting to e-VPN over IPv6 and completely avoiding the DS-Lite NAT server. You can then access both IPv6 and Ipv4 services on our VPN network, we use load balancing technologies to automatically place users on the fastest server at the time of connection.
With more and more online services are now implementing IPv6, e-VPN is one of the few VPN services that fully support IPv6. Most providers cannot handle the implementation of IPv6 and choose to block this within their VPN application. We have removed IPv6 leak protection from our VPN apps, it’s now obsolete and no longer needed for our service!
